National Program Coordinator/Southwest Regional Coordinator  (Lagos) (USAID)

The National Program Coordinator/Southwest Regional Coordinator   will coordinate Office of Transition Initiative's (OTI) Nigeria program in country, interfacing  with USAID/Lagos and Embassy/Lagos, OTI/Washington, and OTI's  SWIFT contractor in Nigeria.  He/she will also be responsible for  the specific regional programs in the Southwest.

Due to the nature of OTI's program in Nigeria, the candidate  should have an in depth knowledge of social, economic, and  political movements, such as political campaigns, public  lobbying, and social marketing.  The success of OTI's initiatives  will depend in large part on the ability to create an enabling  environment for structural change in Nigeria.  Therefore the  candidate should have the ability to envision this process,   translate the vision into concrete activities, and motivate and  manage a process for its implementation.  OTI's endeavor is to  support the Nigerians' political, social, and economic  development process, therefore the candidate must be effective in  the Nigerian context.

The candidate should have a graduate degree in one of the social  sciences and at least ten years of overseas experience,  preferably in Africa.  A working background in some or all of the  following areas will be advantageous: democracy and governance,  economic policy, private sector development, communications and  media, and marketing.

The candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, be able  to work with high level public and private persons, and have  excellent writing and communication skills.  The candidate should  have a firm grasp of strategic planning, and should be a  competent manager, particularly of professional staff.
