Media/Lobby/Motivation Specialist (Lagos) (USAID)

The Media/Lobby/Motivation Specialist will work with all aspects  of the Office of Transition Initiative's program to ensure the constructive use of the media  and other instruments of mass communication to create a favorable  and enabling environment for reform.  For example, the specialist  will work with the regional offices to support dialogue and  reconciliation, and to ensure that successful small-scale, local  efforts become known in a wider circle, as models and motivation  for others.  He/she will advise civil society groups on  strategies for interacting with government to obtain constructive  results.  The candidate will advise OTI's partners on public  outreach, strategic planning, management of expectations,  building consensus, and other strategies that will enhance their  role as agents of peaceful democratic change.

The candidate should have academic background in one of the  social sciences and work experience in journalism, political  party or community activism, social marketing, or similar fields  relevant to the task.  He/she should be familiar with public  opinion research and related methodologies.
