Private Sector Specialist/Economist (Lagos) (USAID)

The Private Sector Specialist/Economist will be responsible for  advising the Office of Transition Initiative's program on economic, private sector, business,  trade, and related issues.  He/she will coordinate closely with  Embassy/ECON and with the representations and missions of the  international financial institutions in Nigeria.

Working closely with the Lobby/Media Specialist, and with  relevant members of the Embassy and USAID missions, he/she will  advise interested Nigerian groups from the private sector, civil  society, and from government regarding creating a national  movement for economic reform, including addressing issues of  corruption/transparency, provision of public services, universal  primary education, and other priorities that the new government  with civil society may determine

This may take the form of specific public campaigns, and may  include national or regional debates on priorities and reform,  and a process of discussion and consensus building culminating in  a national covenant to achieve reform.  The specific content and  the strategies for accomplishing this will be developed by  Nigerians with the assistance of the OTI specialists and  consultants that may be engaged for this purpose.   The candidate should have academic background in one of the  social sciences and work experience in economic policy, business,  private sector promotion, or similar fields relevant to the task.
